Meet The Doctor

Dr. Trason Shoquist DMD

Dr. Trason Shoquist

Dr. Trason Shoquist, DMD, grew up in Boulder, Montana, where a childhood spent hiking and camping fostered a lifelong love of the outdoors. After serving in the U.S. Army, he completed dental school at Roseman University in Utah. Dr. Shoquist launched his dental career as a practice owner in Omaha, Nebraska, then relocated back to the Pacific Northest and now practices in Spokane, where he remains an active member of the community.
Dr. Shoquist's approach to dentistry starts with listening. He takes time to understand each patient's concerns, explain his findings in plain language, and walk through treatment options clearly. Patients leave informed and confident about their care, not just scheduled for their next appointment.
When he’s not caring for patients, Dr. Shoquist can be found on local hiking trails, relaxing at Priest Lake with his wife Sarah, or cheering poolside for his boys.

I first started my career in dentistry in 1990 after graduating from the Dental Assisting Program at Spokane Community College and passing the Washington State Board exam earning my Dental Assistant Certification. I still fulfill my continued education of 12 credits a year to keep my credentials; so don’t be surprised to see me working clinically with patients as well.

My favorite part of working at a family practice is the relationships that are created with the patients that walk through the door. I always say, “It’s like seeing your family and friends all day and you get to help them smile!” “How awesome is that?”

Through the years with seeking continued education and the help of mentors in my life; I have learned the administrative side of the dental practice. I am now the office manager and I am often regarded by Dr. Smith as a “Swiss army knife” having multiple talents.

Aside from the office, I am happily married to the love of my life and best friend Dan. We have four children whom we cherish and six beautiful grandchildren that range from 1-10 years old, but I am hoping for more grandbabies to love. They all have stolen my heart.

I graduated from EWU with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene in 2006. I am passionate about my profession and helping my patients maintain a healthy smile they are proud to share.
I began my career at a periodontal specialty office where I worked for 13 years. During this time, I worked at EWU as part time faculty for 10 years. In 2016 I was invited to sit on the Advisory Board for the EWU Dental Hygiene Department. Teaching and serving my profession and community give me great fulfillment. In 2019 I joined Spokane Dental where I am excited to broaden my skills working close to home with members of my immediate community.
In 2014, my husband and I bought a country home on 10 acres. We welcomed our daughter in the summer of 2016. I enjoy traveling and have visited many countries including areas of Western Europe and West Africa. I love all four seasons and enjoy outdoor activities year-round. Hiking, camping, and gardening fill my spring, summer, and fall. In the winter months you will find me and my family up at the mountain skiing.
