Spokane DentistAt Spokane Dental, we are always excited to accept new patients. We strive to make your dental experience comfortable, positive, and healthy from the moment you walk in the door. Your Spokane Dental team understands the uncertainty of trying a new office, whether it is dental, medical, or anything else. We have taken the uncertainty out of a new patient appointment with a handy guide of what to look forward to your first time at our office. Here’s what you can expect at a Spokane Dental checkup:

First Thing’s First

When you walk into our lobby you will be greeted by one of our friendly front desk team members, Dawn or Shawna. They will get you checked into our computer system, answer any questions you have, and get all of your paperwork completed for your visit. When paperwork is ready, you can have a seat in one the comfortable chairs in our lobby and read a magazine or admire our hand painted mural by a local artist. One of our team members (a dental hygienist or dental assistant) will come out and bring you to a room.

Assessment

At Spokane Dental, we know that every patient’s needs are unique. That is why we start off with a health history, radiographs, and an assessment of each patient’s oral health. In the assessment phase of the appointment, your dental hygienist will examine your teeth, gums, and soft tissue in your mouth for any signs of disease and take note of any concerns for Dr. Smith.

Dental Cleaning

Your Spokane Dental hygienist will create a treatment plan for your dental cleaning, and depending on the health of your gums and teeth, will complete a dental cleaning in your initial visit or make plans with you to do a more extensive cleaning. We assess all factors and make the best choice with the patient’s health and comfort in mind.

Dental Exam

Dr. Smith examines x-rays, does an oral cancer screening, and an intra-oral exam to look for any needs that should be addressed. He also speaks with the patient to get to know them and any concerns they may have, or whether any teeth are bothering them. If further treatment is needed, Dr. Smith explains what is necessary to the patient and answers any questions, making sure each patient is comfortable and well informed of the reason further treatment is recommended and what that treatment entails.

Every smile is different, and at Spokane Dental we love providing our patients each with a unique treatment plan that is best for them.
